Keep up the good work!

Here's some fun snapshots of our team, in all their worn-out glory. But we love it, don't we?!:)

Here's Sari, pulling trip sheets and delivery orders for tomorrow. Both bins are full of orders.

Because of our awesome ramp, we are able to drive through our design center, and load inside the building. This works great in case of bad weather. George is about ready to load up for another trip.

Inside our large cooler, we stack tables to allow for more shelf space during the holiday. This is a glimpse of some of the designs that will all be pulled and delivered tomorrow.

Lizzie is working hard, and totally having fun at the same time:)

All through this madness, brides will get married on the 14th, and Elma, is working on one of our weddings.

Back at our Lover's Lane Location, our main retail store, our designer's are working hard to keep our sales floor full of gorgeous florals.

Oh so cute!!

Valentine's in the Making

As you can imagine, Valentine's Day preparation is a long and involved process, that literally requires months of planning.

While the fresh designs are put together closer to the actual day of the specified delivery, we are able to pre-make all of our plant gifts. At Dr. Delphinium we love Orchids, Begonias, Maidenhair Fern, and Hydrangea just to name a few.

This is our greenhouse, and the behind the scenes preparation for the big day!

I love the intense coral pink of these Begonias!

These Phalaenopsis Orchids are almost ready to be put into their vessels. This year, we are pairing orchids with Maidenhair Fern, which gives a more traditional streamlined orchid, a soft lacy texture. By the way, Orchids are great gifts for the men in our lives...;)

For all you last minute shoppers, I implore... please shop now!! You will definitely thank yourself later.

Color of the Month--Mimosa Yellow

It's time for our monthly event I would like to title..."Color of the Month". For February, In spite of the traditional Valentine's colors, my hue of choice, is bright and cheery Mimosa Yellow.

I definitely have a
fondness for this color,
and am glad it's vibrant
hues penetrate the
gray overtones of a cold
(depending on where
you live) winter month.

The Experts say this
warm yellow adds
optimism and re-assurance, which is especially needed in these economic ups and downs.

Sunflowers, or perhaps the yellow Rose of Texas, are generally the first florals thought of, when visualizing yellow blooms. I however, love the Callas, Orchids, Tulips, Gerberas, Daffodils, and more exotic Pin Cushion Proteas, that all have their individual interpretation of this sunny shade.

Interesting color combinations could potentially be Gunmetal Grey and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Plum and Yellow, Navy, Lime and Yellow. Despite the intensity, yellow can be versatile and unexpected.

Fun Display for Valentine's Day

Just when you get through the madness of Christmas, Valentine's Day, slowly sneaks up behind you and ...OMG! What will you give that special someone?!?
I couldn't help but share what our talented Creative Director, Minh, designed for the sales floor at Dr. Delphinium, ushering in the upcoming holiday.
Showcasing some of our luxurious vases, he filled them with Curly Willow branches and attached paper love poem cut-outs, complete with sappy sayings and affectionate axioms.
What a fun idea!
I have actually seen this done as a display for Christmas cards as well.
To view this site first hand, stop by our store...(you might also get lucky and find the perfect item to satisfy your favorite person).

Cranberry Love!

So, I know that Christmas is over, but I couldn't help but re-live the memories of my favorite Holiday Designs from this past season.

These pieces were designed for a precariously thin mantle, in an ultra-mod home. My client was throwing a big Christmas Bash, and we wanted something dramatic and jaw-dropping for over the fireplace. The gorgeous glass vases were provided by the client, and enhanced with frangrant Paperwhites supported by showy Red Dogwood. I personally love the look of the exposed roots, creating a lacy collar around the top of the vase. The red color is pulled through the design with an achoring of bright Cranberries.
The complete look met the challenge of creating something modern, yet botanical in nature.
Yaay for Cranberries!!

Race for the Cure

This year Dr Delphinium participated in Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Oct 18th. There were 30,000 people that participated in the race. It was a lot of fun and great to see people participating in the cure for breast cancer. The Northpark Mall parking lot was full of people and sponsors, which gave away tons of goodies. Emerald City played as we walked through the finish line and it was like a huge celebration.

Dr Delphinium will donate 10.00 for every “Susan” arrangement sold. The Susan is a beautiful pink and white arrangement with roses, hydrangea, spray roses, tropical foliage in a clear glass vase with a pink satin ribbon tied around it. It also comes with a “Running Ribbon” pin. Definitely a must see item.

New Fall Soy Candle Scents

It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Texas. If you are looking for a way to have your home filled with the crisp fragrance of fall, stop by Dr Delphinium and pick up a Jimmy Belasco soy candle. My favorite candle for the fall is the Orange Cranberry. It’s so yummy, it makes me think of leaves turning colors, drinking hot tea, carving pumpkins and eating turkey. You know all those things that remind you of fall.

Jimmy’s candles are made here in Texas and they are made from soy wax, which is even cooler. Soy candles are cleaner burning candles and they burn slower too. A soy candle can burn up to twice as long (sometimes even more!) than paraffin, giving you twice the candle. Not to mention, soybeans are grown in American fields and processed into soy wax in the U.S. as well. Soy candles are good for the environment and our farmers.

The best part of the soy candles is that the scent “throws well,” which means it fills the room with a long lasting scent. Soy wax candles have a great scent throw and they also have a cleaner smell too. Now that you know the benefits of soy candles, it’s time to make a trip to Dr Delphinium.
