Gold Rush of 2010!

I'm totally on board for going neutral with refreshing shades of gold. Something about Gold and White, makes me feel refined and instantly classic.

Here's a snippet of ribbon from Romantic Ribbons

Gorgeous Gatsby vases from Accent Decor. Imagine those filled with a mound of white Peonies!!

In LOVE with this dress!

Need to revamp a standard glass vase?
Try wrapping in several shades of gold ribbon.

This is a design we did for Robbin's Brothers last month. Gold painted Magnolia Leaf Orbs, perched atop streamlined white vases. These are still usable a month later!!

Color of the Month-Turquoise

So, I know it's been awhile since my last post. So sorry... where does time go?

Color is once again the topic of the day, for a variety of reasons. Specifically, Spring has sprung...and is springing up some intense color palettes.

Turquoise and it's variations happens to be one of these bright colors. So many brides come to me wanting Turquoise in their wedding. The challenge becomes integrating this color into a palette, when there is nothing in the fresh floral world that really comes close to this true shade. So, we use props and other elements to pull the color through.

The top photo is an idea for an earthy chic wedding. These glass chunks, highlight the color. Succulents almost have a bluish hue, which works well with the rocks.

In these photos we are using the vase to add in our color accents. By pairing a contrasting hot pink, with our blues, we are adding something unexpected.

With this design, we wrapped the vase in a perfect Purple/Turquoise ribbon. This added in our color, paired with a more soothing green and white combination.

Here's a thought, when there is no time or budget for flowers. Just color the water!! This is a darker Blue, but certainly doable for a Turquoise look.
When working with Turquoise or any other random colors that might be difficult. Just know there are many ways to pull in different color accents. The key is to keep it simple and don't try and over do it.

Color of the Month--Mimosa Yellow

It's time for our monthly event I would like to title..."Color of the Month". For February, In spite of the traditional Valentine's colors, my hue of choice, is bright and cheery Mimosa Yellow.

I definitely have a
fondness for this color,
and am glad it's vibrant
hues penetrate the
gray overtones of a cold
(depending on where
you live) winter month.

The Experts say this
warm yellow adds
optimism and re-assurance, which is especially needed in these economic ups and downs.

Sunflowers, or perhaps the yellow Rose of Texas, are generally the first florals thought of, when visualizing yellow blooms. I however, love the Callas, Orchids, Tulips, Gerberas, Daffodils, and more exotic Pin Cushion Proteas, that all have their individual interpretation of this sunny shade.

Interesting color combinations could potentially be Gunmetal Grey and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Plum and Yellow, Navy, Lime and Yellow. Despite the intensity, yellow can be versatile and unexpected.
